RURAL CAPE BRETON ENTERPRISES

Rural Cape Breton Living Society- a non-profit social enterprise focused on the development of affordable and sustainable housing throughout Cape Breton. Overseen by the Board of Directors, the focus is to work with various levels of government, organizations, and institutions to answer the need for housing in our region. Board of Directors: President, Jill Gardiner; Vice President, David MacKinnon; Secretary/Treasurer, Debbie MacDonnell; Joey Porier and Bryan Pratt.

PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

We specialize in the management of seasonal and rental properties on Cape Breton Island. We offer a wide array of services including general maintenance, housekeeping, scheduled inspections, rental marketing, advertising and scheduled viewings.

This project began in late 2022 in partnership with our team made up of Damian MacInnis, Dr. George Nwangwu, Kenneth Oguzie and Moses Saromi. Our goal is to build mixed use developments throughout Atlantic Canada with a focus on student and affordable housing units. The first project will be built in Port Hastings, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where we will be working with the NSCC Strait Campus and Nautical Institute to help them increase enrollment by producing safe and accessible living quarters for their students. We will also be building commercial space below the residence to cater to the students. This will be phased project where 18 affordable housing units will be built onsite as well as numerous building lots and a driving range.

Phase 1: 40 student housing units and commercial space

Phase 2: 40 student housing units, commercial space, soccer field, basketball court and storage units

Phase 3: 18 affordable housing units and playground

Phase 4: 22 serviced building lots
